Self-Service BI : Sorry, something went wrong

description

When clicking "Self-Service BI" after completing the Content Pack deployment, I saw the below error.

Image

Watching ULS logs, this seems related to a missing PowerPivot dependency.

Image

Still researching, but suspect that a WSP for PowerPivot needs to be deployed or PowerPivot configuration needs to be finalized.

RESOLVED: The root cause was missing PowerPivot features in the SharePoint 15 hive.

STEPS:
  • Login as CONTOSO\ADMINISTRATOR
  • Start Menu > PowerPivot Configuration Tool SharePoint 2013
  • Type in SPFARM account with "pass@word1" credentials
  • Type in "DEMO2013A\POWERPIVOT" for instance
  • Click Validate
  • Click Run
  • Browse to "http://intranet.contoso.com/SelfService%20BI/Forms/Gallery.aspx"
  • Install Silverlight
  • Ready to view any PowerPivot workbook
SUGGESTION:

Add more PowerShell script to configure PowerPivot at the end of "C:\Content Packs\Packs\SQL Server 2012 SP1 Demo 15.2.5\Install.ps1"

Hi Jeff,

Note: This is part of the documentation. Also, please use the Contoso\SPService User Account. This is also an opportunity to Name the Service Application > SQL 2012 PowerPivot Service Application and the Database DEMO2013A_PowerPivotDB to remove the GUIDS from the database name...

I have also attached the POST installation Instructions

Thank you for the feedback and screenshots...

Hi Jeff,

Could you open this under the discussions list, I appreciate the screenshots and want to leave the discussion open with the screenshots and would like to close the issue, do you still want to beta test some of the planned releases?

Cheers,

-Ivan
