Release Notes

This document provides instructions on how to install SharePoint Demo Build 2.0 that will configure SharePoint 2013, for your review and use. The primary reason the SharePoint Demo Build 2.0 chose AutoSPinstaller is first and most importantly that we have been using it now for years and it works. Please note that this installation takes about 45 minutes to install and about 45 minutes to configure.

Requirements
This installable package is built using the SharePoint Content Pack Installer with PowerShell on a virtual machine. This document assumes that you have already successfully created an environment with Windows Server 2012 Guest or using Hardware. The preferred Server Name for the Server is DEMO2013a. This document may refer to this machine as “the base VM, the Contoso server, or DEMO2013a.
The SharePoint Demo Build Content Pack may also be used within other content packs.

Note: In SharePoint 2010, PowerPivot for SharePoint requires classic-mode Windows authentication, yet this has changed in SharePoint 2013. In SharePoint 2013, all Microsoft BI technologies support claims-based authentication, but PowerPivot supports Windows claims-mode authentication only, despite the fact that SharePoint in claims mode also supports forms-based and SAML authentication methods.

The PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 add-in is only required for accessing workbooks as a data source from outside the farm, configuring scheduled data refresh for a workbook, using the PowerPivot Gallery, providing BISM link file support, and adding the PowerPivot Management Dashboard to SharePoint Central Administration.

Installation Guidance.

06/09/2013 The SharePoint Configuration is now using AutoSPInstaller Version 3.86 this resolves the issues with Secure Store, PerformancePoint and more. You may still have to coax the script along.. Thank you Brian I love AutoSPInstaller

07/01/2013 Resolved issue with SQL Alias by using localhost instead. We will go back to using a SQL Alias once I have time to debug.

07/17/2013 SharePoint Demo Build 2.0 Version 15.2.5. Now uses AutoSPInstaller v3.87 (the latest version) there were two issues with AutoSPInstaller v3.87 as released the they are both resolved.

08/09/2013 Set Create UPS Sync Setup to false as part of AutoSPInstallerInput.xml as this was causing the installation to fail when using version 3.87 due to the username syntax is username@contoso.com instead of contoso\username. SharePoint Demo Build 2.0 is now version 15.2.6

There were previously 2 manual configuration steps with the last release of the SharePoint Demo Build 2.0 version 15.2.4 now there is one manual step remaining (See PowerPivot Below). The Installation of and Configuration of SQL 2012 Reporting Services Integrated Mode is now part of the Self Service Demo Content Pack 2.0 -. Version 15.2.7.

Note: As mentioned above there is still 1 manual step left to fully automate explained below:

1. PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 Configuration Wizard
Run the PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 Configuration Wizard and use the Contoso\SPService as the PowerPivot Service Account.

Next Steps: Install the following Content Packs in the order they appear below:

1. PeoplePack - UserProfile Provisioning Demo 2.0
2. Self-Service BI Demo 2.0 Content Pack
3. Visio Services Demo 2.0 Content Pack

Cheers,

-Ivan
